You kind of make a rule at the clinic to not get attatched to animals. Be kind to them, be compassionate, but don't get attatched. Somtimes an animal walks in, and you just can't help it. We did surgery on one of those animals today. Sissy is an eleven month old boxer that has had diarrhea for about two weeks. She was treated at another clinic, and they thought they had cured her, but she started up again as soon as the owners got her home. They then decided to bring her into us. We have tried several different treatments wtih no success. We took her in to exploratory surgery today. It was not pretty. She had adhesions everywhere, and ended up rupturing while we were trying to repair an ineseseption (no idea if that is spelled right). We had to remove a large piece of intestine. Sissy got very pale during surgery, and had several instances of low or irregular heart beats. Her intestines really didn't have any motility, which is not a good sign. Her prognosis is extremely gaurded. She just has one of those faces that make you love her. Hey, I even loved her after she had explosive diarrhea all over me. I smelled good, let me tell you. I -love- my job. I -love- my job. I -love- my job.

Poor Mambo is having a rough time. When I came home yesterday his face was swollen, and his third eyelid was completely covering his eye. He had a temperature of 104.4. I alcoholed his footpads and gave him some babyfood, to try and convince him to eat. This morning his fever was down to 103.5, but I took him in. Dr. C thinks he may have chlamydia. She's not really sure why his face is so swollen. Poor kitty. It's just been rough on him. He is the sweetest cat though. He took a nap with me today, and laid there with a paw on each side of my neck, and his head tucked under my chin. He just purred the whole time. He's just stolen my heart. I just hope I can get him over whatever is making him sick.
